General Conference

As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints we have the privilege to gather together as a family every six months and listen to the words of our prophet, apostles and other leaders.  It's a great weekend, full of cinnamon rolls, words of the Lord, coloring, crocheting and more.  This time I taught Molly how to crochet, and it kept her busy the entire time, and  still now.  The other girls spent lots of time coloring, and Hadley played with blocks and climbed on dad.

As much as I love this weekend, it's the following days and weeks when I get to read over the words again, and really soak them in.  When I don't have kids asking for things, or yelling about a crayon, or banging blocks together.  The times when I can read and ponder all by myself.  I caught glimpses of what lies in store for me as I will read over and ponder the words that were spoken, and I can't wait to immerse myself in them.  The light splash I got on Saturday and Sunday were amazing, and I know my spirit will continue to be fed as I search the talks that were given over the next six months. I'm so grateful for a living prophet and the knowledge that God speaks with his children today, we are not left to figure things out on our own.

Jesus Walking on the Water

Originally for gospel study I was printing coloring pages for them to color on, but I'm really loving just watching what they come up with.  It's so much more fun, and they get really into their drawings. Nora was upset about the black "narwhal" on her picture, because little sister Emy added that feature, and it was not appreciated.

Baby Time

I've mentioned before that this one is a very messy eater and so she usually gets a spray down in the sink in the morning which she absolutely loves. Then we get her dressed and have some reading time before school.  This morning she wasn't interested in sharing her chair...

Sophie Mouse

My girls LOVE the Sophie Mouse books, and to be honest so do I.  They are cute stories that build good character.  There is no questionable material in them, they are just good books! They are an early reader chapter book, so they have some illustrations, and the stories are fun and easy to follow.  Molly my 7 year old read them all last year. This year I read them aloud to Nora my 5 year old before bed, and she will probably read them on her own sometime next year.  She is still frustrated pretty easily by reading even though she can do it, so we keep things pretty short in that area for now.  If you haven't read the adventures of Sophie Mouse and you have little girls at home (or even little boys!) I highly recommend them!
