Weekly Prep

It's a new month so we are memorizing a new scripture.  For March we are learning Matthew 7:7 "Ask and it shall be given you, seek, and ye shall find, know and it shall be opened unto you."

For prep this week I got the scritpure up on the board, and tried very hard to draw a Velociraptor since that is our dinosaur of study for the first few days this week.  What I didn't know is that since I have been to school they discovered that Velociraptors were most likely covered in feathers, making them much harder to draw.  Oh the things we learn.

I also planned out the girls lessons for the week and got all the printables ready.  We are using the Good and the Beautiful for most things, but since I will soon have 5 kiddos I print out the pages they work on so that I don't have to buy the books new every year.  I'm hoping to save money that way. :)

Also did you know that chickens are one of the dinosaurs closes living relatives?  That's not why we got chickens, but we did pick those up this weekend so I thought I'd share!

Jesus Walking on the Water

Originally for gospel study I was printing coloring pages for them to color on, but I'm really loving just watching what they come up with.  It's so much more fun, and they get really into their drawings. Nora was upset about the black "narwhal" on her picture, because little sister Emy added that feature, and it was not appreciated.

Baby Time

I've mentioned before that this one is a very messy eater and so she usually gets a spray down in the sink in the morning which she absolutely loves. Then we get her dressed and have some reading time before school.  This morning she wasn't interested in sharing her chair...

Sophie Mouse

My girls LOVE the Sophie Mouse books, and to be honest so do I.  They are cute stories that build good character.  There is no questionable material in them, they are just good books! They are an early reader chapter book, so they have some illustrations, and the stories are fun and easy to follow.  Molly my 7 year old read them all last year. This year I read them aloud to Nora my 5 year old before bed, and she will probably read them on her own sometime next year.  She is still frustrated pretty easily by reading even though she can do it, so we keep things pretty short in that area for now.  If you haven't read the adventures of Sophie Mouse and you have little girls at home (or even little boys!) I highly recommend them!
