Unexpected Day

Friday was kind of thrown together.  We don't usually do school on Friday's we do something fun, so it worked out fine, but it was a crazy day. I got a message from my sister late Thursday night that her brother in law had been in a terrible accident and they ended up being with him at the hospital all night long.  Because of that we headed down to help out with their daughter Friday morning after I got home from the temple.  I grabbed a bunch of food for lunch and dinner and then we were off.

We got there in time for lunch and then I took the girls to the Museum of Nature and Curiosity for a while, and we enjoyed having cousin Oaklee with us. We headed back and made dinner and then brought Oaklee home with us for a few days so her parents can be back and forth from the hospital without having to find sitters and such.
My kids always love art areas, but I must say I was actually a little disappointed in the art room here.  Maybe it's because I'm used to the children's Museum in Denver that has an amazing, massive art room with everything you could ever want.  Paint, markers, scissors, clay, stickers, glue, stencils and more.  My kids would spend hours just in that room.  Here the room is tiny, they have crayons, glue, and pastels with a tiny bit of paper.  That's it. I guess I was just spoiled in Denver, but I was really bummed when I saw it!

There was supposed to be a really big snow storm but mostly it was just rainy or overcast.  Of course when we came out of the museum though it was snowing big crazy flakes, and getting home was a little crazy!

Jesus Walking on the Water

Originally for gospel study I was printing coloring pages for them to color on, but I'm really loving just watching what they come up with.  It's so much more fun, and they get really into their drawings. Nora was upset about the black "narwhal" on her picture, because little sister Emy added that feature, and it was not appreciated.

Baby Time

I've mentioned before that this one is a very messy eater and so she usually gets a spray down in the sink in the morning which she absolutely loves. Then we get her dressed and have some reading time before school.  This morning she wasn't interested in sharing her chair...

Sophie Mouse

My girls LOVE the Sophie Mouse books, and to be honest so do I.  They are cute stories that build good character.  There is no questionable material in them, they are just good books! They are an early reader chapter book, so they have some illustrations, and the stories are fun and easy to follow.  Molly my 7 year old read them all last year. This year I read them aloud to Nora my 5 year old before bed, and she will probably read them on her own sometime next year.  She is still frustrated pretty easily by reading even though she can do it, so we keep things pretty short in that area for now.  If you haven't read the adventures of Sophie Mouse and you have little girls at home (or even little boys!) I highly recommend them!
