For our Read Aloud last week we read, The Gold Thread by Norman Macleod. My girls loved it, especially Molly. The story has many gospel ties and teaches important life lessons. We were able to discuss the different things that Prince Eric was learning as he journeyed through the forest, and how we could relate such things to our own lives. I loved the discussions that it fostered, and it didn't feel like I was lecturing my kids, because they were making the connections! It was a great read, quick and easy. Probably better for ages 6 and up, but my younger ones enjoyed parts of it as well.
Originally for gospel study I was printing coloring pages for them to color on, but I'm really loving just watching what they come up with. It's so much more fun, and they get really into their drawings. Nora was upset about the black "narwhal" on her picture, because little sister Emy added that feature, and it was not appreciated.
