We do a coin system at our house, and it's working quite well. The kids earn coins for getting their morning routine finished, helping with the chores, doing school with a good attitude, helping when mom asks, and anything else that I think is coin worthy. They can also loose coins for bad behavior, talking back, hurting someone, etc... They save up their coins and then they can cash them in. They can get actual money or they can "buy" things like a new book, a daddy daughter date, or 30 minutes of T.V. I love that it makes them more responsible for their time. If they want to watch T.V. I tell them that they can if they want to pay me for it. Of course they don't have to pay when we watch something together as a family on Fridays or if we watch something for school. If they want extra though, they have to decide if it's worth using their coins for.
Originally for gospel study I was printing coloring pages for them to color on, but I'm really loving just watching what they come up with. It's so much more fun, and they get really into their drawings. Nora was upset about the black "narwhal" on her picture, because little sister Emy added that feature, and it was not appreciated.
