Dining And Kitchen Clean up

We do chores every morning except for Sundays.  Each morning there is an area of the house assigned and we all work on cleaning that area together.  I've found that this works better for my kids.  If I send them off to do something on their own it doesn't seem to get done as well.  Tuesdays are our Dining room and Kitchen clean up and it's probably my least favorite chore day.  I just feel like there is so much to do.  We wipe down the tables and chairs, the cabinets and appliances, we sweep we mop etc.. It just feels daunting to me, usually because I make it so messy during the week while I cook.  However I believe it is my girls favorite day. They love to "ice skate" while they clean and we usually turn on some classical music and they go nuts. Then they get to make a fort out of the chairs that we moved to the front room, and they play castle and dragons almost every single time.  Even my baby loves to have a rag to help. They get water EVERYWHERE, which is another reason I struggle. I'm trying to be okay with it though, because I know they are learning valuable skills.  But it's done and over this week, so until next week I don't have to worry about it!

Jesus Walking on the Water

Originally for gospel study I was printing coloring pages for them to color on, but I'm really loving just watching what they come up with.  It's so much more fun, and they get really into their drawings. Nora was upset about the black "narwhal" on her picture, because little sister Emy added that feature, and it was not appreciated.

Baby Time

I've mentioned before that this one is a very messy eater and so she usually gets a spray down in the sink in the morning which she absolutely loves. Then we get her dressed and have some reading time before school.  This morning she wasn't interested in sharing her chair...

Sophie Mouse

My girls LOVE the Sophie Mouse books, and to be honest so do I.  They are cute stories that build good character.  There is no questionable material in them, they are just good books! They are an early reader chapter book, so they have some illustrations, and the stories are fun and easy to follow.  Molly my 7 year old read them all last year. This year I read them aloud to Nora my 5 year old before bed, and she will probably read them on her own sometime next year.  She is still frustrated pretty easily by reading even though she can do it, so we keep things pretty short in that area for now.  If you haven't read the adventures of Sophie Mouse and you have little girls at home (or even little boys!) I highly recommend them!
